Ante Kovačić Primary School was founded in 1984. It has 933 students, eight grades, and 75 teachers.
In Croatia primary education is separated into two educational parts: classroom teaching and subject teaching. The classroom teaching programme is for students from Grade 1 to Grade 4 (7 to 10-year-olds) who study obligatory subjects such as Croatian language, elementary science, mathematics, physical education, music, arts, foreign language (English or German), and religious education as an optional subject. The subject teaching programme is for students from Grade 5 to Grade 8 (11 to 14-year-olds). In this period Croatian language, arts, music, mathematics, biology, geography, history, chemistry, physics, foreign language (English or German), technical education, physical education are obligatory. Computer science, religious education and second foreign language are optional subjects.
Ante Kovačić Primary School teachers are dedicated to their work. Apart from educating the younger generations, they are involved in many events important to the local community. One of them is a humanitarian work.
Teachers are the most important factor in achieving the quality level of the students’ educational and individual development, as well as in creating a safe and motivating school environment, in which the students can live, learn and grow. Our goal of school education and care is to develop students’ talents and upgrade their potentials. We are also bound by our school motto: „Knowledge and kindness make our country shine!“
It is up to us teachers to give our best so that our students can develop life skills like communication, critical thinking, collaboration, tolerance and empathy. It is also our duty to help them improve their self-confidence and self-awareness.
We are a very good school with great teachers who will work hard in this project. There are a lot of teachers involved: the Headmistress, Croatian language teachers, foreign language teachers (English and German), 1st to 4th grade teachers, maths teachers, geography teachers and a computer science teacher. They all will try to incorporate skills like communication, flexibility, integrity, teamwork, professionalism, responsibility and positive attitude to this project.
