Third LTT in Germany Berlin
This project co-funded by the Erasmus+ Programme of the European Union was held at Erika-Mann-Grundschule in Berlin-Mitte, Germany from the 6th to the 10th December 2021.
The programme was introduced by Birgit the principal and was fully delivered on its objectives. It gave us an overview in cultural and social terms.
After a guided school tour we apprehended the after school care concept and we attended to several advanced teaching training in different classes. We made paper puppets for a role play of the Brothers’ Grimm fairy tale. We shared some typical cookies and pastries from majority partners’ countries: Portugal - Madeira Island, Germany, Croatia, Slovenia and Turkey. Unfortunately, partners from Great Britain were absent.

We attended the Schools Inspectorate and learnt how the funds are used since schools in Berlin represent a social hotspot. About 65% of the children with a migrant background and 75% of students live from transfer payments and with a high rate of parents with little education.
The school contributes to the students’ inclusion in the society by gaining invaluable experience and development, as well as additional skills and knowledge for personal development. In that way the students are well prepared for an active involvement in the society and employability in the future.
We went on sightseeing tours, exhibitions and Christmas markets to get to know better the city of Berlin.
These learning experiences gained in Berlin were indeed beneficial for our future professional work as teachers.
Erasmus+ programme represents one of the European most tangible achievement in uniting people and creating a sense of life-changing experiences, raising qualifications and improving the prospects of all participants to better succeed in life.
Our special thanks to German partners for welcoming us so well. We are very grateful to our partners for preparing us a welcome dinner, a farewell dinner and for providing us a good accommodation in Steps Hotel in Berlin.
