Fifth LTT in Slovenia Šmarje pri Jelšah

In the week between May 16 and 20, 2022, several partners participating in Erasmus + "Let Me Tell you a Story" were present in Slovenia, specifically in the city of Šmarje pri Jelšah. The partners were all staying in Rogaška Slatina.

Rogaška Slatina is a town in eastern Slovenia and the seat of the municipality of Rogaška Slatina. It is known for its healing mineral water, spa and crystal.

On the first day, we were very well received at the host school, who presented us with a welcoming ceremony, full of beautiful artistic performances by the school's students.

That same morning the partners met to view a short presentation of the school and to exchange gifts.

There was also a guided tour of the school to see the classrooms, followed by two workshops on science and animation.

After lunch at the school we had a guided tour of Lemberg a medieval square where we also held two workshops. In the first we heard the history of Lemberg and in the second we had the opportunity to write a medieval letter.

The first day ended with dinner in Rogaška Slatina at the restaurant Sonce.

The next day, May 17, we traveled to the capital to be received by President Borut Pahor at the Presidential Palace. After the reception we had a guided tour led by Minister Marjan Dikaučič.

After lunch at pizzeria Ljubljanski Dvor, we proceeded to the university where we were received by the Minister of Education, Science and Sport Simona Kustec.

Next we took a ride on the city train through the city and castle and then some free time on the way back to Rogaška Slatina we had a chance to visit Trojane, a place famous for its doughnuts and other desserts.

On Wednesday, May 18, our students contributed to the school newspaper by participating in a workshop in the computer room to write about their mobility experience. Afterwards we had the pleasure of watching a dramatization about Muca Copatarica (Slipper keeper kitty) and the students did an international book exchange.

After a nice snack, we headed to the Sveti Štefan school, where we were treated to a beautiful music performance and dramatization about the seasons. In this school, the students also participated in some sports and art activities prepared by the school. In the afternoon of the same day, we were received by the Mayor of the Municipality, who was kind enough to give us the mobility certificates. After this welcome we visited the Baroque Museum and the Church of St. Rok.

The day ended in Tisko with a dinner hosted by the Municipality of Šmarje pri Jelšah.

The 19th of May was also amazing day. In the morning we traveled to Bled where we had the opportunity to take a boat trip to the island. On this day after lunch we traveled to Planica to visit the Nordic Center in Planica.

The day ended with dinner in Pri Kmetec.

On the last day, May 20 on Friday at the host school, while the students participated in a sports activity "Tee Ball", the partners met to carry out the evaluation and prepare the next mobility.

This was followed by a visit to the Šentvid school, where after a nice reception full of dances and songs. The partners visited the school, the students participated in two activities. In the first they painted the character of the traditional fairy tale "Muca Copatarica (Slipper keeper kitty)" and in the second activity in small groups they had the opportunity to get to know each other better with the activity "This is Me".

The mobility ended at the host school with a nice lunch and the presentation of certificates to the host families.

It remains to be said that the Erasmus+ program represents one of the most tangible European achievements in bringing people together and creating a sense of transformative experiences, increasing qualifications and improving the prospects of all participants to better succeed in life.

The delegation from Portugal, Madeira Island, is very grateful for all the hospitality of the Slovenian partner for everything.

With our compliments,

Mariana Pestana, Luís Araújo, Sofia Araújo e Diana Araújo
