Primary school Šmarje pri Jelšah lies in the east of Slovenia. There are 774 pupils in the central school and 216 pupils at six branch schools. There are 990 pupils together. Pupils are between 6 and 14 years old. About 130 people work at the school. Of this, there are about 90 professional workers (learners). With a population of just over 10,000, Šmarje pri Jelšah almost passes for 'big city' in Eastern Slovenia. Southeast of Celje, the town developed alongside a medieval mansion -or castleknown as Jelšingrad, located on a small hill northwest of the town. In general, the municipaltiy is covered by hills and valleys, while to the north lies the majestic Posavje mountain range that extends beyond Plešivec. It's a really good place for cycling, and has lots of farms. The nearby towns are Celje, Rogaška Slatina and Podčetrtek. school's motivation; At our school we work motivated teachers who want to teach pupils in an innovative way. We participate in various projects, but none of them is international. We want to upgrade our work and teaching with international cooperation. The pupils would thus be acquainted with the practice abroad. We participated in the reading literacy project, and at the moment we are participating in the It's Storytime project under eTwinning.
Teaching through fairy tales is close to elementary children. We want to motivate pupils to take as much as possible from the lessons. You also get to know the fairy tales that teachers are reading in other countries. For work on the project, we would draw from objects related to fairy tales: mother tongue, foreign language teaching, history, geography, fine arts and other subjects. key person; The key people to manage the project would be a group of teachers and other professionals from different fields, who use fairy tales for teaching children in their work. Next to me, it would be a representative of school leadership. In the event that these persons leave the post in the future, which is unlikely, the management of the school would organize other interested people who would be happy to take over the management of an international project. In the project reading literacy we have achieved good results, which are checked every year by national tests. We are an Ecoschool, therefore we are implementing several projects with environmental issues. We are involved in the project Slovenian Network of Healthy Schools. In the eTwinning project, we received the European Quality Label. We have a school garden an a classroom in nature and much more.
